Reviews about Samantha

“I’ve been working with Samantha through multiple chapters of my body’s never-ending plot twists: pre- and post-op care for my right shoulder, both hips (which were doing their own noisy little salsa routine), both shoulders again (because EDS loves a sequel), and now a generalized strengthening plan for my whole hypermobile mess of a frame. From day one, she’s been more than a physical therapist. She’s been an advocate, an educator, and one of the few healthcare professionals I’ve ever felt genuinely safe and seen with. Samantha doesn’t just hand out exercises and send you on your way. She watches how your body moves, notices subtle things no one else has, and explains what’s happening in a way that makes you feel smart instead of broken. I’ve walked into appointments feeling defeated and walked out feeling like I have a strategy, like I’m not alone in this, and like my body actually can improve, slowly but surely. What sets Samantha apart isn’t just her knowledge of the musculoskeletal system (though she clearly knows her stuff and shares that knowledge generously). It’s how she applies that knowledge with such intentionality and personalization. She has never looked at a patient as just a diagnosis. She sees the whole person. She understands that every symptom often points to a deeper, more complex puzzle that most providers overlook. And she doesn’t clock out when your appointment ends. I brought my preteen to see her for joint pain and instability (likely hEDS, thanks genetics), and she met them with care, curiosity, and total professionalism. She adjusted everything to be kid-friendly, softball-specific, and confidence-boosting. And they actually liked doing the work. If you’ve ever met an 11-year-old, you know that alone is sorcery. Later, my partner developed mysterious, chronic back pain. I referred them to Samantha, and not only did she take them seriously—she helped us identify the likely cause. She researched possible conditions, helped us prepare the right questions to ask their doctor, and was absolutely right. It wasn’t Ankylosing Spondylitis, but it was non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (basically the same beast). She figured it out before any other provider even got close. Samantha’s care extends far beyond muscles and joints. She sees the whole person. She’s trauma-informed, neurodivergent-friendly, and never once made me feel like I had to prove my pain. She doesn’t push past comfort or safety—she listens, adapts, and holds space in a way that makes healing feel possible. She’s tuned in, not just to my physical limits, but also to how hard it is to navigate this kind of care when you’ve been dismissed or ignored in the past. She makes you feel like your body isn’t a lost cause; it’s a weird little masterpiece that just needs the right kind of attention. She’s changed how I move. She’s changed how I think about my body. She’s helped my partner, and my kid, feel stronger and more capable in their own skin. And honestly? I trust her more than just about anyone in my care team, especially when it comes to chronic illness / disabilities. If you’re dealing with chronic illness, hypermobility, mystery pain, or just want a physical therapist who gets it? Go see Samantha. She’s kind of magic…”

“It is not a far stretch to say Samantha Newell, DPT was the key in my health journey. I found her researching hypermobility specialists in the area and it was the best decision I could’ve made. I came to her exhausted from joint pain and discomfort with doctors who didn’t know what direction to point me in besides physical therapy. She was vital in not only giving me targeted, detailed exercises to improve my strength but had so much more knowledge beyond bedside care. She brought up lifestyle modifications, supportive tools, other local practitioners who knew how to help people with hypermobility, and above all else, she was the first medical professional who truly understood what I was going through. From the first time I met her, I felt understood. She knew that even mundane things can be a challenge for people with hypermobility. I cannot recommend enough to anyone struggling with joint pain, hypermobility, hEDS, or anyone else who seems like their body is acting 60 years older than it is to see if Samantha can help. Her medical knowledge, personal experiences, and kindness are such a rare and welcomed change when you’re navigating the complexities of a chronic condition or injury. Samantha, thank you for treating me. Your help has made every day less painful and you helped point me to a place that could give me an answer for why I’ve been struggling my whole life. I am so grateful to have been your patient.”

“From the outset, it was clear that Samantha was thorough and interested in personalizing the physical therapy treatment program. I have had physical therapy for years and there are only a few who stand out to me. Samantha is one of those for these reasons: Due to my joint hypermobility, I have had mismatches with physical therapists in the past who were unaware of how to treat a person with this condition, which resulted in more injury or frustration on the part of the therapist or in some cases resident physicians (and me). Samantha was willing to spend more time developing a holistic program for me, which inspired confidence. Samantha truly cared about me and I wasn’t just another patient she would forget about in a few months as she showed interest in developing a long-term rapport. Samantha‘s own struggles with EDS helped me to be assured that what I was experiencing was not just in my head, but real and science supported. For these reasons, I would strongly recommend her as a physical therapist.”
